finding fiction

Brooklyn, NY, US

Pop, Psychedelic, Punk, Rock, DIY

Finding Fiction began in 2008 as a chemistry experiment between four unemployed but musically curious Brooklynites with post-doctoral degrees in deferred student loans, skateboarding and couch surfing.  With a van named Ron Burgundy they set out in '09 cross country playing over 150 shows including fests like SXSW, NXNE and MidPoint, garnering press and praise from the likes of Absolute Punk to Oh My Rockness to Jezebel Music.

Drawing equal afflatus from the tinkering, atonal, noise guitars of ‘90s groups like Yo La Tengo or Sonic Youth, ‘70s progressive psychedelics of artists like ELO and Todd Rundgren, and the more sullen intricacies and wanderings of ‘80s artists such as Tears For Fears or Peter Gabriel, what Finding Fiction manage to assemble out of the pieces is far more than the sum of its parts.

In September of 2011, the foursome of George Chen (keys), Luke Dennis (bass, vox), Aaron Latos (drums), and Mario Santana (vox, guitar) finished up a 21 city coast-to-coast tour supporting the new EP, Try This At Home, mixed by Nashville’s Jeremy Ferguson of Battle Tapes Studios (Be Your Own Pet, De Novo Dahl, Turbo Fruits, The Carter Administration, Hot Pipes, PUJOL, JEFF the Brotherhood) with more tour dates announcing soon.
